What is Vermiculite?

Vermiculite is a naturally occurring mineral with a laminated structure that provides several benefits for plants when mixed with the substrate or on the surface.

It is well known for its excellent moisture retention and aeration properties, that helps to maintain the temperature and humidity, as well as improving the soil quality.

Careful with the amount of vermiculite that you add to the substrate, if you add too much problems of excess humidity may appear in the substrate.

The action of vermiculite is very similar to that of expanded clay but vermiculite retains more water, as it can retain up to 5 times its weight.
