THE CONTROL EXPANDER

The CtrlBot is an expansion module that enhances the capabilities of the GroLab™ system, enabling independent control of up to 10 actuators at 12/24VDC and significantly increasing automation possibilities in horticultural environments.

Designed to directly manage irrigation zones, lighting systems or other electrical devices, CtrlBot offers personalised control of distinct electrical lines, easily adapting to the specific needs of each project. Its compatibility with relays and power contactors simplifies the control of electrical panels, even in medium or large installations.

CtrlBot stands out for its flexibility by integrating a wide range of peripherals, from solenoid valves and water pumps to high-power ventilation and lighting systems, making automated management more efficient and comprehensive.

The purchase of sensors, peripherals, and replacement parts compatible with the GroLab™ system can be made through the Open Grow online store or via GroLab™ resellers.

The installation below demonstrates the versatility of CtrlBot. In this example, the module directly controls 12VDC devices, such as five dosing pumps and a solenoid valve used to fill a tank. By using relays, it is also possible to control higher-power equipment such as an HPS ballast and an extractor. This flexibility makes CtrlBot ideal for large-scale fertilisation, irrigation, ventilation and lighting systems.

Actuator Control

CtrlBot significantly expands control capacity in horticultural environments. It features ten 12/24VDC outputs compatible with a wide variety of devices such as solenoid valves, peristaltic pumps and water pumps.

Power Line Management

Compatibility with relays and power contactors allows the automation of virtually any equipment, from small devices to industrial systems. Users can freely choose which devices and outputs to control, integrating them into a single module and adjusting output power as needed.

Speed Control

The speed of various devices can be adjusted, ensuring greater precision and efficiency. This function allows you to optimise even low-cost equipment, improving system performance in a simple and effective way.

Advanced Irrigation

Compatibility with 12/24VDC actuators enables the creation of smart irrigation systems capable of managing multiple zones independently and accurately.

Nutrient Dosing

Although it does not support an electrical conductivity (EC) probe, CtrlBot can control peristaltic pumps when used in conjunction with the TankBot or TankBot Plus modules. This makes it possible to accurately manage up to 10 different micronutrients, optimising plant nutrition automatically.

Safety Procedures

Advanced procedures can be configured to prevent risks and mitigate damage in emergencies such as fires, power failures, floods or intrusions. Customisable options include partial or full system shutdown, cooldown times and automatic actions in case of communication loss with the GroNode, ensuring greater safety.

Module Communication

CtrlBot communicates with the GroLab™ system’s central module (GroNode) via radio frequency, with a range of up to 25 metres indoors (depending on obstacles) and up to 100 metres in open spaces. This allows for greater flexibility in placement and installation.

Monitoring & Analysis

The GroLab™ Software allows real-time monitoring and detailed analysis of data from devices connected to CtrlBot. It includes instant notifications, interactive charts and data export features, supporting effective management throughout the plants’ lifecycle.

Notifications

When the central module is connected to the internet, e-mail notifications can be configured to report the status of devices connected to CtrlBot, allowing quick responses to anomalies and improving system safety.

LED Indicator

This module has a built-in LED that indicates its operating status, including active connection to the GroNode. The LED is fully configurable, allowing users to adjust its behaviour according to their preferences. It can even be switched off to minimise light interference, ideal for environments that require controlled lighting conditions.

Free Firmware Updates

One of the advantages of a digital system like GroLab™ is the ability to receive easy and automatic updates. The Open Grow team continuously works to fix reported bugs, improve features and introduce new capabilities. All updates are free and can be quickly applied via the GroLab™ Software with just a few clicks.

Remote Control

By connecting the system’s central module to a router with internet access, remote control of the GroLab™ system is enabled. This feature gives users full access to all modules, anytime and anywhere, through the GroLab™ Software.
